Wake up lighting

You will be able to set Hue lights to sync with your morning alarm so your lights gradually light up as they would in sunrise mode. If you have set up Hue and added it to Google home then great, but what if you then add a new bulb in the future and you want to add this to Google Home. The Philips Hue and Google Assistant sleep and wake up feature works with just a simple voice command to your Google Assistant. While the price of white Hue bulbs has come down in recent years, colored hue lights remain rather pricey, with single bulbs going for around $40.

It's currently available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore and India, and you'll need to use English. There's also no mention of support for non-Hue lights. If you can live with the limitations, though, it might be worthwhile to get a better start to your day. How to Connect Philips Hue to Google Home

The Gentle Sleep and Wake feature allows you to slowly brighten or dim your smart lights, switches and plugs. Gentle Sleep sets your lights to a warm white colour, then slowly dims them over the next 30 minutes. Gentle Wake Up brightens your lights over a period of 30 minutes to imitate the sunrise. Gentle Sleep sets your lights to a warm white color, then slowly dims them over the next 30 minutes. You can connect up to 50 lights in the Philips Hue Bridge, all of which can then be controlled using voice command as part of the Philips Hue and Google Assistant sleep and wake up feature should you so wish. Thanks to the new Philips Hue and Google Assistant wake up feature you can now control your sleep and wake up settings using just your voice.

I use Sleep As Android for my alarm and for my Hue light to wake me up. I then use IFTTT with Sleep As Android to turn on my living room lights when I dismiss my alarm, but you could easily set that up to trigger a routine instead. SAA has IFTTT integration via webhooks so it's fairly easy to setup.

Choose your bedside lights

When instructed, the Google Assistant will turn up the lights from zero to full brightness over a 30-minute period, simulating a sunrise intended to wake you up just before your audible alarm goes off. After your sunrise, customize your Wake up automation to extend through your morning routine to keep that peaceful feeling all throughout your day. Google introduced a very similar feature with the release of the Pixel 3 and Pixel Stand. When the phone is docked, users can choose to use a Sunrise Alarm. As the name suggests, the Pixel’s display will gently brighten to simulate a sunrise. “Hey Google, turn on Gentle Wake up” to have your daily morning alarms pair with gradual brightening.

Of course, this feature has been a part of the Philips Hue system for some time, and can be controlled via the Hue app . Many Hue and Google Home owners — this writer included — probably already have such a system in place. The same new system can also be used to help you drift off to sleep, lowering the brightness to zero over a 30-minute sunset simulation.

Google Assistant, Philips Hue lights will simulate sunrise to gently wake you up (Update: Available)

For now, it seems like the Gentle Sleep & Wake feature only works with Hue smart lights, so if you use another brand of bulbs, you’re out of luck. Gentle Sleep & Wake is available starting today in English in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and India on Google Home devices. Users will be able to set sleep by saying “Hey Google, sleep the lights at 10pm”, changing the lights to a warm hue that gradually fade over thirty minutes.

See how Philips Hue smart lighting can help you at every moment of your day. Philips Hue will begin rolling out the Gentle Wake Up feature and sleep lighting effects in March. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled and can not get it to work with google assistant. Here you can add devices, click the plus button or add more devices to load the selection list.

First off, open the Google home app on your phone or tablet device and tap the menu button in the top left corner. If you say, “Hey Google, turn on Gentle Wakeup,” then your Philips Hue lights will begin to brighten with your morning alarms. The Philips Hue smart bulbs carved out their own slice of the smart bulb market through tons of features, color choices, and ease of use. While they are by no means the only options for smart lights these days, Philips Hue maintains their place in the market through continuous innovation and constant improvement. Hue Labs, a built-in feature on the app that allows users to try out new features before they are made an official part of the app, is just one example of this.

Google Assistant can now ‘gently’ wake you up with Philips Hue lights

Now, the lights will begin to brighten 30 minutes before your morning alarm — just make sure you give the instruction to the Google Home device you want to use as your alarm clock. The Google Home range of smart speakers and the Home Hub smart display can now wake you up gradually by increasing the brightness of Philips Hue lights. The downside of Google Pixel’s feature is that unless your room is pitch black, you might not even notice the effect. But if you use Philips Hue to light your room, one or two of the company’s bulbs should be enough to simulate sunrise and wake you up. “Hey Google, sleep the lights in the living room” to begin gradually dimming the lights in the living room.

Philips first announced this integration at CES earlier this year, with a planned rollout in March. Looks like that took a little while longer, as Google and Philips gently brought this feature to life. Your light will now appear in the Home app and can be controlled with Google Assistant. Tap the back arrow icon to return to the main screen of the Google Home app. All your Philips Hue lights and Rooms will now be listed. How you connect Hue lights to Google Assistant depends on whether you want to connect with a Hue Bridge or Bluetooth.

If that doesn’t hold you back, though, the Gentle Sleep and Wake features are now available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Singapore and India in English only. I tried syncing the goggle home mini with the philip lights for my mother, but when choosing philips hue from the long list it says “unable to connect check connection settings,” What do i have to do? I seen a nice amout of videos and let me tell you it is not as easy to set everything up like in the videos. Once all added you are set to go, any voice commands used now should change your lights and turn them on and off. With smart home voice controlled assistants you can control your Philips Hue lights by telling Google to turn them on using your Google Home. Just say ‘Ok Google, turn on my living room lights’ and your lights will turn on.
